Youth and Children

Children & Youth/Young Adults

Children are an integral part of Bahá’í gatherings and children’s classes are held most weekends in Orlando and the surrounding area. This virtues training is open to both Bahá’í and non-Bahá’í children up to age 10.

Junior Youth group activities include virtues training, devotionals and opportunities to showcase talent and understanding of the Bahá’í Writings and the Word of God. These forums are usually held in small groups of Bahá’í and non-Bahá’í youth aged 11-14. The program seeks to enhance the junior youth’s spiritual and intellectual capacities and prepare them to participate effectively in the affairs of their communities through acts of service.

Youth group activities focus on leadership and taking responsibility for spiritual life. These forums are open to both Bahá’í and non-Bahá’í youth aged 15 and higher. In the Bahá’í Faith, 15 is regarded as the age of spiritual maturity. The Bahá’í Writings state the period of youth should be distinguished by sanctity and detachment, loftiness of purpose, magnanimity and spiritual qualities.

Young Adults are invited to play an important role in the advancement of Bahá’í children’s classes and junior youth and youth activities. These young adults are often looked to as mentors and role models for the younger members of the Bahá’í community.

“Children are even as a branch that is fresh and green; they will grow up in whatever way ye train them. Take the utmost care to give them high ideals and goals so that once they come of age they will cast their beams like brilliant candles on the world and will set their hearts on achieving everlasting honor and acquiring all the excellences of humankind.” –
